We decided to try a new place after church this Sunday and settled on The Phily Diner in Runnemede. It was a delightful surprise with its outdoor dining area complete with TV screens. We had driven by the diner on several occasions but never noticed the Ford Fairlane sitting in front of the restaurant (I think that is the make and model.) It is a lovely car.
The outside of the diner is inviting with its green shrubbery and well landscaped garden near the front door. The revolving door opens into a spacious area with dining areas to the left and the full-service bar to the right. The high ceiling and pictures of athletes in their gear was unique.
The statue of a young man holding a bowl in his left hand stood by the front door with the bowl filled with cookies. We requested a booth and were shortly seen to one along the front windows of the diner. Since breakfast service was almost at an end, we were given a full menu which included breakfast and lunch.
Our orders included a Chocolate Milkshake and a Vanilla Milkshake both topped with Whipped Cream, a Plain Hamburger with French Fries, a Short Stack of Pancakes with Sausage, and Two Eggs Over Easy with Sausage and Home Fries.
Those who ordered the Milkshakes said they were very good – after all, what’s not to love about a milkshake. There were no complaints about the Hamburger or Eggs. The Home Fries were Tasty and cooked with onions as per request. The Pancakes were cooked, but the center was a little wet still. The Sausage had a slightly spicy sweet taste which was pleasing to the palate.
The waitresses were friendly, attentive, and anxious to please. We enjoyed The Phily Diner and look forward to dining there again.
I, therefore, give The Phily Diner 4 plates.
