This Sunday we decided to go to Pizza Hut in Woodbury, NJ on Route 45 otherwise known as Mantua Avenue. My sister had wanted to try their new Pizza with Cheese in the Crust.
We were pleasantly surprised to see the interior redesigned. Gone was the salad and pasta buffet, booths in the middle of the floor, and the checkout area with the checkered counter area. In their place were booths surrounding the walls of the restaurant all with brushed chrome finish. There was a tall table in the middle of the floor with chairs with the same finish. It looked welcoming and more modern.
There was only one waiter responsible for all the tables. That was fine as long as we were the only ones there, but when three other parties came in, we were unable to get the service we needed. He was friendly but acted as though this was his first day on the job which added time to our being there.
We began with fresh Salads with Ranch dressing. Mine was surprisingly good with tomatoes and cucumbers. That does not sound like such a different offering, but the dishes used to serve them had also been updated. The salad dish was all white with modern wide square sides and a bowl in the middle. I guess the dish, itself, made the salad better tasting, too.
The Pizza with the Cheese Stuffed Sides was actually good. I thought the cheese would be overwhelming, but it was mild and did not overpower the overall taste.
Raspberry Iced Tea was my drink, but it had too much of the Raspberry flavoring to be drinkable. Another mistake by the first-time waiter I suppose.
For dessert, we had the Chocolate Chip Pizza. It was pretty good, however, it did not taste like my homemade ones.
I would give Pizza Hut in Woodbury, NJ 3 and 1/2 plates.
