We had not visited this establishment in a few years, and, frankly, we were surprised at the makeover. Before it had the decor appropriate for the nineteen fifties with a bar separate from the dining rooms complete with red checkered table cloths. Now, it is modern with new booths and a bar which creates the centerpiece of the whole restaurant area. What a pleasant surprise.
Their Daily Specials are displayed on a slate board inside the entryway. It is a much more welcoming atmosphere than previously.
The Lunch Menu is also changed. There are a variety of foods. I apologize for the small menu in this post.
We ordered the Cheesesteak Egg Rolls for an appetizer and all were happy with the taste.
The children had their usual Cheese Pizza with French Fries for which they never have any complaints. The other adult ordered Italian Chopped Salad with several ingredients including Fried Chickpeas and House made Italian Vinaigrette Dressing for $12. There were no complaints there either. One person ordered a Cheeseburger with French Fries. It was rather large and could not be finished, but she gave it an honest try. She said the burger tasted freshly made.
I had the Genovese Sandwich with grilled chicken, fresh mozzarella cheese, roasted red peppers, and pesto mayo on a Brioche roll for $10. First of all, the sandwich was so large I could not hold it in two hands and eat it, so I wound up eating it with a knife and fork. The mozzarella cheese was very small, and there were more red peppers than anything. The chicken was okay. It had been grilled in bread crumbs, and the pesto mayonnaise was lost on me.
Our waitress was considerate, kind and willing to refill our glasses. We were seated in the back of the restaurant away from the bar area.
