                             322 BBQ
I accompanied my daughter and her 3 children to 322 BBQ in Mullica Hill for lunch.  One can get to it from Hwy 45 opposite the Fire House.  There is a driveway around the back of the building called ‘The Old Mill’.  You enter it by going up the steps of the porch to the door.
Once inside along the left wall is a place where one can buy Groceries and view a display of their Barbecue sold by the pound.  There is also prominent writing on the chalkboard telling you that this is a BYOB establishment.  The order counter is in front of you at the end of the restaurant.  Tables and chairs and booths are available for eat-in guests.  The walls have a large sign – D & S – which according to the outside sign is short for David and Sons.
The menu offers a variety of barbecued products along with the usual fare one would expect from a casual restaurant.
I ordered the Half Slab of Baby Back Ribs with Idaho Potato French Fries and D & S Handcut Cole Slaw.  I had expected to receive my order on a plate.  Instead, the ribs were in a paper box, the french fries were also boxed, and the coleslaw came in a bowl to be returned to the counter.  I was disappointed to know that my $20.99 meal had been reduced to boxes.
Now, I am originally from North Carolina and my idea of barbecue sauce is a vinegar-based one with black pepper and hot spices.  I have, on occasion eaten barbecue that has a smoky, sweet flavor that is somewhat palatable, however, this was drenched in the tomatoey concoction which was not appealing at all to me.  The coleslaw had chunks that were much too large to chew easily and its sauce left much to be desired.
My grandchildren enjoyed the fries while waiting for their Macaroni and Cheese which they said was very good.
To be fair, I must assume there are many who like barbecue this way, and I take my hat off the owners who prepare these several barbecue types of meat every day.   It just isn’t for me.
Based on my observations and my grandchildren I give
322 BBQ 3 and 1/2 plates.
