We celebrated our 46th wedding anniversary at 6:30 pm, Tuesday, August 7, 2018. One of my daughters and her family attended as well as my sister and nephew. This was the first time we had been to this restaurant in about two years.
The food was as good as we remembered. My Filet Sinatra was delicious cooked to medium rare, and the appetizer, Clams Casino was also pretty good. I would have liked to have had a bit more clam flavor in the stuffing, though. A House Salad came with the meal with a Balsamic Vinegar Dressing which made it tasty, but, for my sister who can’t digest vinegar, it was not a great choice. Our waiter did not offer an alternative.
My husband had their Veal Chop which was large and tender. The potatoes served with it were delicious and the vegetables that accompanied the dish were also fresh and well cooked. His appetizer was the Antipasto Filomena, a typical Italian assortment of meats and cheeses. The small serving was large enough to share with the table.
He also ordered the French Onion Soup which came with a healthy serving of mozzarella cheese and bread. He enjoyed it and said it was almost as good as my sister had made some years ago.
The other family members enjoyed their meals with the children’s Individual Cheese Pizzas, and Fettuccine Alfredo. There were very no complaints except for one Manhattan Cocktail made with Dry Vermouth instead of Sweet.
Altogether, it was a pleasant evening. My husband and I had arrived early and went into the full bar to wait for the rest of our party, but it was crowded. There was no place to sit, so we had to go back into the reception area to wait. Tuesday nights are a BUCK A SHUCK night we were told, which accounted for the crowded area.
Our waiter was polite, kind, and courteous. We had to wait an inordinate amount of time to get our order taken and to have our food served mainly because our waiter was also serving two other tables.
I will give Filomena Lakeview four plates.
